Cat Tien National Park  is an important national park located in the south of Vietnam. It was protected initially in 1978 as two sectors, Nam Cat Tien and Tay Cat Tien. Another sector, Cat Loc, was gazetted as a Rhinoceros Reserve in 1992 upon the discovery of a population of the Vietnamese Javan Rhinoceros, an occasion that brought the park into the world’s eye. The three areas were combined to form one park in 1998.

The park also has impressive bird species including:

• Red Junglefowl
• Green peafowl
• Siamese firebacks (although found elsewhere, these are especially easy to see in the park)
• Germain’s peacock-pheasant
• Orange-necked partridge
• The great, oriental pied and the wreathed hornbills
• Bar-bellied, blue rumped, blue winged and other pittas
• Broadbills: including the black & red, dusky and banded species
• An endemic sub-species of the red-vented barbet
• Grey-faced tit babbler
• Woodpeckers: including pale-headed, white-bellied, black-and-buff, heart-spotted and the great slaty woodpecker
• Lesser adjutant birds, various herons and egret species
• Milky stork and the woolly-necked stork has also been reported in recent years
• A wide variety of resident and migratory waterfowl; although recorded, white-winged ducks may no longer be present in the park
• Birds of prey including osprey, lesser fish eagle, grey-headed fish eagle, crested serpent eagle, collared and other falconets.

Itinerary:

Day 1: Ho Chi Minh city – Cat Tien National park (Meal: Lunch & dinner)

• At 08.00an, leaving the busy city of Ho Chi Minh City (former named Sai Gon), turning off the National Highway 20 leads visitors to a mountainous area full of roadside plantations of rubber and green coffee. A short, smooth 150 km  car rides  takes visitors to a former volcanic crater, known as Lava tubes. Crossing the Dong Nai River to enter the Cat Tien National Park enables visitors begin their wildlife experience.
• After having lunch, meeting your local tour guide, we do a three hour trekking to through the Reserved Core Area. We will see many kinds of hundreds of years old trees. Then return to the center for dinner.
• Highlight: Two-hour night cruise in to the jungle, in a jeep, allows visitor to enjoy the feelings of watching wild animals drinking and hearing the calls of rhinoceros.
• Return to the center area of the park.
• Overnight in Cat Tien park.

 Day 2: Cat Tien National park – Ho Chi Minh city (Meal: Breakfast & Lunch)

• Visitors wake up to the nice songs of native birds. Breakfast prepares them for another four-hour trekking to see the Crocodiles swamp and back to the head quarter for lunch, transfer back to Ho Chi Minh City.

• Pick up at your hotel, then depart to the Northern Part of Dalat City.
• Our riders will take you close to the foot of Lang Bian mountain, where to enjoy the beautiful view of vegetable terraces and the endless green valley. About 30 minutes to go down the valley to see how Dalat’s Farmer working, also trekking up pine hill for break taking view and fresh air from the mountain.
• Heading to the South-West via Mangling village to Van Than Flower village, the beautiful and quiet road with colorful of rose, daisy flower plantation from both sides. Strolling in the Van Than village, visit flower farms in green house and see how people prepare for packaging flower before sending to the market.
• Descending down the Ta Nung Pass, take the full view of Nam Ban town from the nice view point of the mountain, strolling to visit the local K’Ho hill tribe village.
• Stop to visit the coffee plantation, before visit the traditional rice wine distillery family, see how people making weasel coffee.
• The next stop is where to see how silk worm is growing and to visit the silk factory.
• Then transfer to get to Elephant Waterfall, enjoy the full view of the falls and the rushing river. Access to the foot of the falls through the windy cave , just like natural shower in the tour that you can take.

•  At 8.30am, we will pick you up at your hotel at 8:30 am, then transfer by car about 12 km to Datanla trekking area.
• We start the trek through the pine forest down to the stream. The trek goes through the green jungle and offers to see as many as 7 waterfalls, some of them are good for swimming, so do not forget your swimming clothes.
• We trek about 6 km along the stream, through the jungle and have to cross the stream a few time. A picnic lunch at the top of the biggest falls will provide enough energy for you to complete the rest of the up hill trek to the Paradise lake, then we will walk 7km along the lake to our camping site on the shore of the Lake where our support van take you back to your hotel around 15.00.

• At nightfall we started out on an expedition to find fireflies. From a small dugout boat with rickety seats we paddled down canals lined with little shrubs where fireflies flickered in the night. Our guide had a special firefly net which consisted of a cloth bag attached to a bamboo pole and after some effort scooped fireflies off the leaves and into our hands. With stars sparking above, flashing bugs lighting up our fingers and frogs croaking nearby it was a night to remember.

  • Am: Our tour guide and driver welcome you at your hotel in Hoi An and then leave Hoi An ancient town for Quang Ngai province. Along the way, you can see Chu Lai combat base on Highway 1. Arriving Quang Ngai you will start to visit My Lai museum for learning about the war in this area in the past. You will reach to My Lai massacre where you spend an hour there to see the complex of Massacre with Monument. The House of Evidence where documents, photos, and objects which testify to the massacre such as shirts, a pair of sandal of a killed child, all kinds of cups and plates, cookers and pans holed by cartridge, and wooden bells used for reciting prayers. You will have a deep impression of the part in Vietnam war. Have lunch at local restaurant.
